Alice Chen aspires to create high-quality, person-centred and efficient healthcare for all, using her skills in clinician engagement, project management, and program/process redesign and implementation. Alice’s first step in pursuing a career in healthcare was undertaking a bachelor of science in health studies from the University of Waterloo. Having explored many areas of the field since then—including health information management/information technology at University Health Network, regulatory practices at Health Canada and clinical research at McMaster University—she is now a program specialist at Cancer Care Ontario. In this role, Alice works with stakeholders from across the province to identify gaps in Ontario’s cancer system and develops quality improvement initiatives to close them. She has received several recognition awards and scholarships for outstanding academic achievement and work performance.
